Before ruling the ton, India Amarteifio was just a theater kid. Now, the Queen Charlotte star is heading back to the stage for the National Youth Theatre’s 70th-anniversary event, Letters to My Younger Future Self. Going down September 20 at London’s Royal Festival Hall, the one-night production throws out the usual script. Expect an evening of spoken word, dark secrets, and a little unsolicited life advice from the night’s performers.

She’s in very good company. The lineup is an over-performing roster of British talent, with Adeel Akhtar (Fool Me Once), Jessica Henwick (Game of Thrones), Jack Thorne (Adolescence), and Susan Wokoma (Enola Holmes) all stepping up to the microphone. You’ll even hear from Dame Judi Dench (Skyfall) and Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die), who penned letters to be read for the crowd, with more names expected to drop before showtime. The night brings seven generations of British actors together to give their younger selves a very public talking-to.

Netflix and the NYT have been collaborating since 2023, covering the cost for more than 4,000 young creatives to learn the ropes of physical production and off-stage work. The streaming platform is backing the evening to put the newest wave of talent in charge with young creatives from the Ignite Your Creativity initiative handling the evening’s broadcast and production logistics alongside director Josie Daxter and NYT’s Paul Roseby.

For Amarteifio, showing up for the youth theater was a given. According to the organization, 60% of Britain’s biggest screen stars started on stage, with NYT boasting an alumni roster that includes Daniel Craig, Helen Mirren, Daniel Day-Lewis, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Black Panther 3 star David Jonsson, and Amarteifio’s fellow Bridgerton alum Regé-Jean Page. It’s where future award-season regulars go to learn how to dazzle an audience before the screen industry comes calling.

“Happy to be supporting NYT at The Royal Festival Hall in September,” Amarteifio noted regarding her return. “An important place for young people to hone their skills from across the country and without socio-economic exemption. Just art!”

Tickets for the September 20 show are on sale now, with proceeds directly benefiting the National Youth Theatre’s ongoing programs. Keep up with the Southbank Centre and the National Youth Theatre on Instagram for more details.
